MAKING A BETTER UNDERWATER WORLD

API brand Reaches Antarctica!

API products are as far-reaching as the ends of the Earth!

Our awesome Technical Services team recently responded to a call from a customer conducting marine biology research at Palmer Station in Antarctica, inquiring about using our best-selling API® Saltwater Master Test Kit. This was an exciting moment for us, as we realized just how far-reaching the scope of our products is! We were also thrilled to learn that our trusted products are actively being used for research that will positively impact our planet.

We have a long history of aquatic research and sustainability efforts – and we can get very hands-on when it comes to our contributions! For instance, our Sustainable Solutions helped to restore the infrastructure of a damaged coral reef off the island of Badi by installing a synthetic coral reef to rehabilitate the affected areas. This was highly significant for island inhabitants, as fish – their main source of food – are drawn to the reef. Without it, the locals would have continued to suffer without their main source of food and trade. To aid further in this endeavor, we also provided several of our beloved products – such as the Master Test Kit, fish food, and water conditioners – to restore the overall health and growth of local fish.

Flashing forward to today’s exciting news, Palmer Station in Antarctica is home to a large and prominent laboratory as well as sea water aquaria, and was designated in 1990 as a long-term ecological research site by the National Science Foundation. They have historically pursued studies that include ocean and climate systems, glaciology, and organisms and ecosystems – likely the very areas where our Saltwater Master Test Kit is assisting!

Fun fact: scientists at Palmer Station have also actively installed a penguin webcam on Torgersen Island (less than a mile from Palmer Station), which operates seasonally from October to February to track the actions and movement of adult birds and chicks. Check it out for some fascinating, live entertainment!

Sustainability is near and dear to our hearts, so learning that our products are being used to study and improve natural marine habitats was such great news to receive. Browse the API line of products for all of your aquatic needs on Amazon.
