MAKING A BETTER UNDERWATER WORLD

API® Feature Product | Aquarium Salt

Who knew that salt could be so versatile -- and essential? Salt is not only a staple to humans, but a necessity for all kinds of aquatic life. In fact, a lack of electrolytes (provided by salt) in freshwater environments may cause serious health problems for your fish. From cleaning purposes to immune system health and disease recovery, aquatic salt is one product we recommend you have on hand at all times when keeping an aquarium.

API® AQUARIUM SALT promotes the overall health of your fish by improving their gill function and reducing stress. Our all-natural salt provides the essential electrolytes that fish need for the easy uptake of oxygen and release of carbon dioxide and ammonia through the gills. Note that AQUARIUM SALT should only be added to reduce fish stress during the freshwater aquarium set-up process, and to promote disease recovery when solving specific fish health issues.

When using API® AQUARIUM SALT in planted aquariums, take special care to research compatibility of your species of plant with salt, as some plants may be more sensitive than others. If your plant species are not compatible with aquarium salt, we recommend removing your fish from the main aquarium and dosing with salt in a separate treatment tank.

Be sure to use API® AQUARIUM SALT when you suspect your fish is ill, or in conjunction with API® medications when treating bacterial, parasitic, or fungal infections. AQUARIUM SALT is a highly beneficial treatment for your fish, and will work to improve their health whether they are sick or not. Do note, however, that AQUARIUM SALT is not a medication, and should always be used with the proper treatment when targeting a specific disease.

Use API® AQUARIUM SALT in freshwater aquariums when performing partial water changes, or whenever necessary for boosting fish immunity and healing wounds or disease.
